My initial view, I admit I was a little let down as the background was white. I love color! So I suggested some blue stars and adding that made the design "pop."

Petey the Dachshund is mischievous, yet his antics play a role in the search for the missing miniature replica of Van Gogh's Starry Night, the focus of the book. So I definitely wanted the dog on the cover. When I saw the photo, it looked like Petey and really made me laugh!

Did you get to give any input about the cover design? I sure did! I wanted something along the lines of a movie theme, since my hero is a Hollywood actor.

Is there an interesting story behind the cover design? If so, please share the details. Well, I orginally asked for a spider to be somewhere on the cover (long story--you have to read the book) and my cover artist humored me. Then sanity set in and I told her she could get rid of it. Whew! It looks much better now. :)

Are you happy with the cover? Yes!!! Love it! It fits the theme and tone of the story perfectly.

Yes, my publisher was totally responsible for the design. The staff is wonderful and very creative and I’ve been pleased with the results.

3) Did you give input?

Basically, the only thing I told my editor was that I wanted the cover to depict the love and passion a man feels for the woman he loves and somehow tie it together with the title of the story.

4) Is there an interesting story behind the cover design?

Actually, there isn’t, but I was very, very pleased with the final product, which coincided perfectly with the story of the main characters. Alcee Jules (A.J.) Baptiste who knows he wants to spend his life with Victoria (Vic) Bennett, but she wants nothing to do with love and even less to do with him. The pediatrician and single father is determined to tear down the barriers around her carefully shielded heart——no matter what it takes. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, A. J. stops at nothing to have Vic and has no recourse but to concoct as many schemes as necessary to keep her in close proximity when she threatens to relocate to Atlanta.

Are you happy with the cover? It is a simple cover. You can tell just the way the girl is posed that she her own person. The illustrations inside are more complex conveying emotions.

Did your publisher design the cover? My publisher, Black Lyon Publishing designed the cover.

Did you get to give any input about the cover design? Yes, I had input on the cover but I totally loved it from the beginning. The only thing I suggested was that sheep weren't added, although they are part of the story. Sheep really weren't a common part of the Saskatchewan landscape then or now. Although Tate (the hero) is rather unique in his vision for a sheep ranch in the midst of the depression era prairies.

The deep, brooding colors, the wild terrain and the lone cabin are like a visual prologue. There's a feeling of mystery portrayed by that cabin nestled in the gloaming, a symbol of the times and of Eva's (the heroine) determined desperation as the book opens. What more can I say - I think it's great and I'm totally subjective but many others have said the same. So that's some validation.
