When a Man Loves a Woman by LaConnie Taylor-Jones

1) Did you design the cover? No

2) Did the publisher design the cover?

Yes, my publisher was totally responsible for the design. The staff is wonderful and very creative and I’ve been pleased with the results.

3) Did you give input?

Basically, the only thing I told my editor was that I wanted the cover to depict the love and passion a man feels for the woman he loves and somehow tie it together with the title of the story.

4) Is there an interesting story behind the cover design?

Actually, there isn’t, but I was very, very pleased with the final product, which coincided perfectly with the story of the main characters. Alcee Jules (A.J.) Baptiste who knows he wants to spend his life with Victoria (Vic) Bennett, but she wants nothing to do with love and even less to do with him. The pediatrician and single father is determined to tear down the barriers around her carefully shielded heart——no matter what it takes. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, A. J. stops at nothing to have Vic and has no recourse but to concoct as many schemes as necessary to keep her in close proximity when she threatens to relocate to Atlanta.

5) Who is the cover artist? Brian Jones

6) Are you happy with the cover?Absolutely!!

7) If not, what would you change?

8) What is the best part of the cover?

The back drop with the smiling face of the man captures the essence of the story. The confident gleam in his eye tells it all. One day, this man will win the heart of the woman he loves.

9) Is there anything else we need to know? No

Sometimes I Am by Rosemarie Gillen

Did you design the cover? Yes.
Did your publisher design the cover? No, I illustrated the entire book.

Did you get to give any input about the cover design? Yes, I had total control over the design of the cover.

Is there an interesting story behind the cover design? If so, please share the details.

Who is the cover artist? I am Rosemarie Gillen.

Are you happy with the cover? It is a simple cover. You can tell just the way the girl is posed that she her own person. The illustrations inside are more complex conveying emotions.

If not, what would you change and why?

Tell us what you think is the best part of the cover. I think the best part of the cover is the girl of course, the way she is looks so confident.

Is there anything else about your cover that we need to know? Feel free to share.

From the Dust by Ryshia Kennie

Did you design the cover? no
Did your publisher design the cover? My publisher, Black Lyon Publishing designed the cover.
Did you get to give any input about the cover design? Yes, I had input on the cover but I totally loved it from the beginning. The only thing I suggested was that sheep weren't added, although they are part of the story. Sheep really weren't a common part of the Saskatchewan landscape then or now. Although Tate (the hero) is rather unique in his vision for a sheep ranch in the midst of the depression era prairies.
Is there an interesting story behind the cover design? If so, please share the details. No.
Who is the cover artist? It's a photograph
Are you happy with the cover? I absolutely love the cover.
If not, what would you change and why? Nothing
Tell us what you think is the best part of the cover.
The deep, brooding colors, the wild terrain and the lone cabin are like a visual prologue. There's a feeling of mystery portrayed by that cabin nestled in the gloaming, a symbol of the times and of Eva's (the heroine) determined desperation as the book opens. What more can I say - I think it's great and I'm totally subjective but many others have said the same. So that's some validation.

Emerald Enigma by C J Westwick

We want you to share your book cover with us. An attractive cover is a big element in the appeal of your book.

We want the details about yours.

Did you design the cover?

I designed the original cover concept, which was the single large emerald and two smaller emeralds, lying on a sandy beach. It was my idea to “hide” a skull in the large emerald to denote danger. The actual rendition of the large emerald was created by Jimmie W. Hanes III. I supplied Mr. Hanes with the proper facets for a classic emerald cut. Ms. Cheri Fakes finished the cover art with several additional emeralds, a bag in which to hold the gems, and the gloved hand created to reach for the valuable emeralds.

Did your publisher design the cover?
No.

Did you get to give any input about the cover design?
Basically, I conceptualized the entire cover.

Is there an interesting story behind the cover design? If so, please share the details.
I wanted the cover to “speak” for itself. In other words, even without the title in place, a prospective purchaser would realize it was a mystery novel involving the theft of emeralds

Who is the cover artists?
Jimmie W. Hanes III and Cheri Fakes.

Are you happy with the cover?
Yes.

If not, what would you change and why?
I wouldn’t change a thing.

Tell us what you think is the best part of the cover.
The near-subliminal skull within the largest emerald.

Say Goodbye by Ed Rand

We want you to share your book cover with us. An attractive cover is a big element in the appeal of your book. We want to hear the details about yours.

This is the cover for Say Goodbye, A Reluctant Sleuth Mystery by E J Rand (www.reluctantsleuth.com). It was published February 21st, 2008.

Did your publisher design the cover, and/or did you have input? My publisher, Deadly Ink Press (www.deadlyink.com), selected a designer, Rebecca A. Kandel. Kandel lives in California, I'm in New Jersey, but we find email exchanges work well. She is conscientious, and progress became exciting. One benefit of working with a small publisher is that I can be deeply involved in the process. It took seventeen mockups to get it just right. It's my first cover, the first in what will be a mystery series, and so we wanted to set a "series" tone and make this cover as compelling as we could. The publisher had ultimate approval, but liked what author and designer were developing, and gave us our head.

Is there an interesting story behind the cover design? SAY GOODBYE is what I call a crossover: a deep love story folded tightly into a murder mystery. I'm a senior citizen and so is my protagonist. I wanted to convey, at first glance, BOTH romance and danger. That's easier said than done, and I'd gotten advice not to try—I was told either would be enough, two would confuse. But I'm stubborn.

Who is the cover artist? Kandel felt that characters in silhouette would suffice; she offered alternatives, modified to our suggestions and her creativity, and so publisher and author tip our hats to her.

Are you happy with the cover? Extremely. Standing in a row beside other covers, ours pops out. And the second Reluctant Sleuth Mystery, PERFECT COVER (Deadly Ink Press, December, 2008) retains the same lighter-to-darker color value (with a different color), titles font and placement, and graphic location—a recognizable sister.

Tell us what you think is the best part of the cover. Tough choice: Perhaps the image: At first glance, a couple kissing and in the gun sight—a look into the story, right side of the page, makes you want to open the book. Then, there's the color: it's like blood, but non-threatening, and the lighter tone within the sight draws attention.

Is there anything else about your cover that we need to know? The gun sight surround had been black, but we changed it to gold—as it also represents a wedding band. It's not etched as we didn't want to detract from the eye going through into the image. But he wears a ring to preserve memories; she wears one as a defense against men, and that surfaces in the first chapter. Not easy for those two, falling for one another…or staying alive.

Please provide your website link. www.reluctantsleuth.com. Background on author, book, and series—including sample text from all three novels so far completed, are available. Visitors can order the book from the site.

What is the link to buy your book? I'm not adept at shortening, but here's a copy of the top line:
