Under Lock and Key by Rebecca Benston

Did you design the cover? No

Did your publisher design the cover? Yes

Did you get to give any input about the cover design? Yes

Is there an interesting story behind the cover design? If so, please share the details. Actually, it is supposed to be a little different than it turned out. I had them change it once, but felt that they got close enough to what I wanted to leave it as it is now.

Who is the cover artist? I'm not sure.

Are you happy with the cover? Yes.

If not, what would you change and why? N/A

Tell us what you think is the best part of the cover. Again, the font used for this title fits the occupation of the client in the book. He's a locksmith. I thought it went well with the shiny, classic font. The darkness of the cover and the lightbulb are kind of a signature thing for this series.

Is there anything else about your cover that we need to know? It's actually the inside of a school building. It goes with the plot of the story.

Judgment Fire by Marilyn Meredith

We want you to share your book cover with us. An attractive cover is a big element in the appeal of your book.

We want the details about yours.

Did you design the cover? No.

Did your publisher design the cover?

The artist hired by the publisher designed it. And the cover won the Ariana award for the mystery category this year.

Did you get to give any input about the cover design?

Yes, Mundania has a questionnaire for the author to fill out about what he or she would like to see on the cover. I didn't want people--but some sort of Native American design.

Is there an interesting story behind the cover design? If so, please share the details.
I hoped the design would convey the message of the fire and also that the book had something to do with Native Americans.

Who is the cover artist?
Niki Browning (a.k.a. SkyeWolf)

Are you happy with the cover?
Absolutely, I think it conveys the feeling I hoped for. And after all, it won an Ariana award so I'm not the only one who thinks so.

If not, what would you change and why?

Tell us what you think is the best part of the cover.
It's great overall. The colors draw attention to it.

Is there anything else about your cover that we need to know? Feel free to share.

Beautiful Princess Without a Face

We want you to share your book cover with us. An attractive cover is a big element in the appeal of your book.

We want the details about yours.

Did you design the cover?

Yes to a degree. It is actually one of the illustrations inside the book where Princess-Loves-the-Pond realizes she can no longer see: wildflowers, the love in her mother’s eyes, movement of wild animals, the moon and the stars, etc. I gave the illustrator the text and my illustration notes, but she had freedom of design.

Did your publisher design the cover?

No, the book is self-published.

Did you get to give any input about the cover design?

My illustrator created the book cover. AuthorHouse allows you to submit images and they will finish the cover for you, or you can send them a finished cover ready for release such as this one.

Is there an interesting story behind the cover design? If so, please share the details.

The book is one of four of my books in which I used one of my grandchildren’s names. My granddaughter, Sarah, helped to pick out the illustrations for the front and back cover. Her favorite color is purple and that is the background color. She just loves her book.

Who is the cover artist?

Valerie Bouthyette from Pine City, New York. You can find out more about her at guru.com.

Are you happy with the cover?

I just simply love it!

If not, what would you change and why?

I would not change anything.

Tell us what you think is the best part of the cover.

The best part to me is how loving the mother looks at her child. Then I love the bear peaking around the tree.

Is there anything else about your cover that we need to know? Feel free to share.

This is one of four books that Valerie Bouthyette has illustrated for me. The others are Keeper of Happy Faces, Lovely Little Lamb and I’ll Tuck You in, Deer. They are all due to be released by the end of 2007. Valerie is a wonderful, whimsical artist.

Please provide your website link.

Both my websites are under design but will be located at www.aprilrobins.com also www.robinfalls.com.

What is the link to buy your book?

The book is sold worldwide online, but I would first look at www.amazon.com/Beautiful-Princess-Without-Face/dp/1434338010/

Murder at Work by Yvonne Eve Walus

My cover for "Murder @ Work" (Echelon Press 2004) was commissioned by the publisher and designed by Nathalie Moore. And yes, I had the opportunity to give input. I remember requesting "a minimalist cover with no realistic dead bodies". There is nothing more off-putting than a young beauty lying in a pool of blood, particularly if the book in question is marketed as a cosy read.

Because the setting of my book is an important element, I also wanted the cover to shout "South Africa" with all its implications, but without too many political overtones. After all, my book is a murder mystery, not a treaty about power struggles. As the blurb promises, it's the story of a ordinary people in a country whose culture and social structures changed literally overnight, from a country where a woman couldn't open a shop account without her husband's permission, to a democracy learning its first steps.
The cover turned out fabulous and it fulfilled all my expectations. See for yourselves.

Walking Man

I didn't design the cover.

My publisher hired a designer and photographer.

I didn't have any input on the design.

Not really any interesting story. The photograph is the photographer's first published photo. He self-photographed his feet with a extension shutter control. He said it's really embarrassing stuff and he'll only do it when he's alone.

Cover designer is Kevin Greenblat of Austin, TX.

Photographer is Matthew Fraser of Clarksville, AR.

Yes, I'm happy with the cover. The original self-published book had a picture of me and my family on the front cover, but honestly, I looked like I had just seen a ghost, so I'm pleased with this change.

One thing I wonder about this cover is if it holds enough to keep the attention of the browser. Seems too simple.

I love the river rocks and the lace treatment around the title. The designer created that for this book and he calls it Andean lace, which is fitting because my book is about life in the Andes Mountains.

Visit me on the Web at www.walkingman.ws; there is a link to "Buy the Book" on my homepage.

Point Surrrender by Anne Carter

Did you design the cover?
I chose the photograph and suggested the font/layout.

Did your publisher design the cover?
No.

Did you get to give any input about the cover design?
See above.

Is there an interesting story behind the cover design? If so, please share the details.
Although POINT SURRENDER takes place in a fictional California lighthouse, the structure in the story is patterned after Heceta Head Lighthouse in Florence, Oregon. I gave sample photos of Heceta Head to the cover artist, and the publisher decided to purchase the rights to the best one.

Who is the cover artist?
Nathalie Moore

Are you happy with the cover?
Very happy with the cover!

If not, what would you change and why?
Nothing

Tell us what you think is the best part of the cover.
Because the lighthouse is central to the story, having it on the cover is paramount. Also, the beam coming from the lighthouse is slightly "starred", giving it a mysterious aura, which fits with the plot.

Is there anything else about your cover that we need to know? Feel free to share.
Can you see the ghost?

Dead Sea Codex by Sarah Wisseman

Did you design the cover?
No

Did your publisher design the cover?
Yes. Actually, the son of the publisher, Dirk A. Wolf, designed the cover.

Did you get to give any input about the cover design?
Yes--I requested an image of the Dead Sea region, since that figures heavily in my story, plus a fragment of an ancient manuscript and the sort of pottery jar the Dead Sea Scrolls were found in (although my "codex" is actually the earliest book form rather than a scroll).

Is there an interesting story behind the cover design? If so, please share the details.
I spent my Junior Year in Israel in the early 1970s and spent a night illegally on the top of Masada, the famous site of the Jewish last stand against the Romans. This spectacular site is located in the same Dead Sea region as my story. The desert landscape made a deep impression on me.

Who is the cover artist?
Dirk A. Wolf. My bookcover is one of the last ones he designed before his untimely death in 2005.

Are you happy with the cover?
Yes.

If not, what would you change and why?

Tell us what you think is the best part of the cover.
The way the colors fade into the blues of the Dead Sea image.

Is there anything else about your cover that we need to know? Feel free to share.
This suspense novel is about two archaeologists who race to find a lost codex before Christian fanatics destroy it.
